About this tour
What if you could travel back thousands of years and see for yourself the world the heroes of Troy, Alexander the Great and the ancient Romans lived in?
On this tour the children become explorers of the ancient world. Together with their guide they travel the museum's halls, solve riddles, hunt for details in the exhibits and hear the stories behind its famous finds.
This is not a history lecture — the children observe, answer, compare and take part in exploring the museum themselves.
How the tour goes
The journey starts with the chronology of the ancient world. The children work out which civilisations existed in which era and how they gave way to one another.
Then we set off after the traces of great heroes and events:
- Alexander the Great — we meet the great commander and find out why his name became a legend.
- Ancient Troy — we recall the famous Trojan War, its heroes and the myths that outlived thousands of years.
- The Roman hall — we look at what the world of ancient Rome was like and how its people lived.
Along the way there are questions, small tasks and things to notice. The exhibits need looking at closely — sometimes one small detail is what gives you the answer.
