Piazza Venezia

Piazza Venezia is a crossroads in the very centre of Rome, dominated by the white marble Vittoriano, the monument to the first king of a united Italy.

The king’s equestrian statue is so large that before the unveiling a lunch for several people was held inside the horse’s belly. From the upper terrace you can see the whole centre of the city, and beneath the monument lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, with a guard of honour all year round.
