About the tour

A message from Leonardo da Vinci is hidden in the very heart of Rome. To decode it, your family becomes a team of detectives: keep your eyes open, spot unusual details and move step by step towards the answer.

On the way we work out how art changed — from Egyptian obelisks and golden mosaics to Renaissance frescoes and dramatic Baroque paintings. Instead of a textbook, we have the city itself and works by Michelangelo, Raphael, Caravaggio and Bernini.

How the quest goes

We meet at the Pasquino statue and open the investigation. The guide introduces the mission and hands out everything needed for the quest.

During the walk the children will:

  • look for clues in streets, squares and churches
  • solve riddles and answer questions
  • notice details in paintings, sculpture and architecture
  • get to know artistic periods through real examples
  • gather the information they need for the final answer

At the end we find the code for a puzzle built from Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings and reveal the big secret. Young detectives who complete the mission get surprise gifts.

We set the pace together: there is always time for a rest or an Italian ice cream.

What you will see

  • the Pasquino statue
  • a square designed by Michelangelo
  • a corner of Venice in the middle of Rome
  • the Street of the Cat and traces of an ancient Egyptian sanctuary
  • a Gothic church and the Pantheon, the temple of all the gods
  • an old library and the Monkey Tower
  • works by Caravaggio and Raphael
  • the Bramante Cloister
