A royal palace where the children become the queen's guests!
We have gathered the places that genuinely work with children: somewhere to touch things, somewhere to run and something to argue about. Each comes with a matching tour and advice on when to go.
Kidster runs nine programmes in Rome: quests around the Colosseum and the historic centre, tours of St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums, Leonardo's workshop, a gladiator school and cooking workshops. All are built for children aged 4 to 16 and run in small groups of up to five.
The tours are led by Russian-speaking guides who live in Rome. Booking goes through a manager, who confirms the date and explains the payment terms. Museum entrance tickets are paid separately, and your guide will say in advance which time slots to buy.
